On the 54th September Hjjtveloek Suburban was en fete, the occasion being a farewell gathering to Mr and Mi-s Reaks: • In the afternoon-the school children and older people assembled, afternoon tea was dispensed, and games indulged in hy the children. In the evening'a very pleasant sccial was held in the .school-room, quite 150 people beingj present. The grounds were lighted ;';up with lanterns, and non-dancers enjoyed! games in the open air. A dainty supper was served by the ladies of Havelock Suburban in their usual hojspitable style, after which Mr B.'Blartletti in behalf of the parents of the school-.children, presented Mr and Mrs'Reaks with a handsome silver tea service and! travelling rug. In making the presentation, Mr Bartlett mad© feeling reference to the general regret felt at thendeparture from, the -district, and expressed wishes for their .future weir fare. Mr W.- Robinson- also spoke. Mr Reaks returned thanks in behalf of Mrs Reaks and himself for the. token of goodwill and remembrance from the Suburban people, andl for the many' kindnesses which they had met with during their stay therei Songs were rendered during the evening by Misses Reaks and Hayes, Mesdames Johnston; Marriott andl'Turner (Waitata Bay), and Messrs Reaks, Q 1 Sullivan, and Looms. Mrs Johnston and" Mr F. O'Sullivan supplied the; tnusic during the evening. After singing "Auldi La'ng Sj'ne"'the large gathering dispersed in the early hours of the morning. >
