•AN INQUIRY REFUSED.

[Phess Association.] -(Received Aug. 27, 10.50 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 27. The Viceroy of Ireland refused to grant without Parliamentary authority a sworn inquiry into the conduct of the police in Londonderry. ■ The membership of the Ulster volunteer force is steadily increasing throughout the province. The general staff and Adlvisory Board are 'constantly in touch with the various units and rifle clubs. Ulster applied for a renewal of affiliation with the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs. Lord Aberdeen expressed regret that he was unable, under existing circumstances, to approve.
