" .. ■;. , - It is understood that a large and influential requisition is in preparation for presentation to Sir William Hall-Jojnes in the course of a week or two at Wellington, by a special deputation,, asking him to come forward m the Liberal interests for the Hawke's Bay seat, at present occupied by Mr HI M. Campbell. ... ' At a special meeting of the Westport Harbor Board held last week, Mr R. A. Young, the engineer, was granted sixYnonths' leave of absence on full pay. It was explained that advancing years- and length -of1 service were telling on Mr Young, who desired to be relieved of his responsibilities. . In the.course of discussion/ it was held by one member that -the Board would not require to engage a highly-paid engineer for nine or ten years, and it. was ■generally agreed that for some time, at all events, Mr Sinclair; the assistant engineer- could assume the responsibility. Mr Young has beeii advisjng the Wairau Harbor Board with regard to its dredging scheme. ~ The death occurred in Wellington last Wednesday of Mrs E. A. Price, who was well and popularly known in Havelock. Mrs Price was matron of the Cottage Hospital for about six years,' leaving about three years agoto reside in Wellington. The deceased lady, who. was well over 70 years of age; had been in indifferent health for some time, and had felt very keenly the- death of her only surviving: daughter, which occurred in Blenheim some months ago. Two sons survive her. One (Mr T. Price) will be rein embefred as having been the resident constable in Havelock a .few years, ago, before which time; he served a number of years as a member of theBlenheim foreeV .
