GERMAN ARMY SENSATION.
ANOTHER TREASON SCANDAL.
BERLIN,. Aug. 14. A sensation has been created! by the arrest of Captain Stein, of the Third Regiment of Field Artillery, on a charge of treason.' While the regiment was being put through exercises on the manoeuvring ground a<t Hammerstein yesterday the colonel sent a summons to Stein. The latter scented danger, and fleeing to the local railway stations departed by the first train. The.authorities promptly wired to the next station, and Stein found himself under arrest as soon as the train drew in.. It is alleged that Stein has sold military secrets to more tlian" one foreign Power. It is considered in jarmy circles that the case is. likely to turn out as disastrously for Germany as the recent Redl treason scandal did .for Austria.
