Frank Wootton and Stanley gave evidence in the "Wcotton-Sievier case, denying that they had ever pulled a horse, or had ever been instructed by Woot.ton to do anything but win or secure a. place. Sievier declined to cross-examine Stanley, eliciting the remark from plaintiff's counsel: "You charged him. with pulling and now refuse to cross-examine him."
