\ Tuesday. Havelock's Easter until Monday was an' exceptionally quiet one, most of the people taking advantage of the holidays in the Sounds or elsewhere. Monday.saw the children's! second annual sports gathering in full swing. A large number of children of various ages were present from Carluke, Sounds, Okaramio, etc., while the elder population also attended to help the committee to give the youngsters a good time. Most of the competitors were awarded some sort of prize, ranging _ from threepence tp a watch and; chain. Afternoon tea' Was served during the day on the recreation grounds. A fancy dress ball in connection with the'sports was held in the evening. A large number attended, and several of the children were very prettily dressed, while . others were more on the original side. The fancy dresses, however, / werei not so plentiful as was expectea, considering the numerous prizes offered.
HOLIDAY ACCIDENTS.
A number of young men from Havelock: who were spending the holiday in the Sounds were rather unfortunate towards the latter end of their camp.jui having one of their number, Mr J. Amos, of the local post office, injured by a pea-rifle bullet, which wounded him in the leg. Mr Amos was immediately brought up to the doctor, who reports the injury as not dangerous, and within a week or two the victim should be well again. Another accident, also - from Sounds, is reported, a young man named Fred Archer injuring himself with a gun, the shot penetrating the foot. Ho was also.attended by Dr. Wimams, and now lies in the Cottage Hospital.
