THE TIMES SURPRISED.
(Receivied Dec. 3. 8 a.m.) LONDON, Dec; 2. The Times says that the result of the Davis Cup contests came as a surprise. The English chance of winning was supposed to lie in the doubles contest, and-; Brooke's's defeat was never, seriously entertaiiied. Sporting Life praises Parke's victory, and says that the: return of the Gup to England will increase the interest in the contests. Possibly Brookes and Wilding will regain it.
