As a yearling he was first at Blenheim in 1909, as a two-year-old second at Masterton in 1910, and as a three-year-old he was an easy first in the aged horses at Nelson in 1911, beating the great imported horse Merry Morning, also first in his class as a three-year-old, and carried away the champion ticket for the best stallion in the yard.
