This institution is now widely recognised as a means by which, ambitious young men and women, can obtain a thorough training in the profession or subject in .which they are interested. At the annual dinner of the Wellington IXj.B Students* Association, last Wed"9? tI, af^ zoning, Mr W. H. Morton, ■^nsr Engineer, Wellington, in j>roposing Mig toast of the International Ulrreepondence Schools, expressed himself ns follows:—"I realise that <?*? ."^rnational Correspondence bchools furnish a means of education to th<j young man. who has arrived at an. a@e ■somewhat beyond that at which ho can be properly suited in, say, a tecfmical school." They enable such a raan. to qualify for work of a technical character in. which he might be engaged. The Schools enabled a young, man to acquire a betterment wot only for himself, but also for his •employer and his country. Recently *h<3co had been a great discussion in -bngjand on the lack of technical education, and it had: been stated that ■tho superior industrial advance of Germany was due to the greater KPJffd <)f technical education. The i.Cb. overcame some of the difficulties- in tho way of technical education ■try enabling students to get instruction in- their own homes. The educa^fcion that was most needed in New Zealand was technical education. It wui.fns opinion that in tlie public -ficftoolfl at the present time they had ■t<xr. Vnany subjects.
