MUKHTAR'S NARROW ESCAPE.
HIMSELF AND STAFF WOUNDED,
CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 23. Mukhtar Pasha, with his staff, was in the fighting line on Sunday. He was repeatedly begged to retire, but refused!' .
Later/ riding along Lake Dukos, he passed Fort Pasebakaeivils, which was believed to be in the Turkish possession. Suddenly they heard shouts, and the staff saw the black astrakhans of the Bulgarians in the fort, which bad been abandoned without Mukhtar's knowledge. Wheeling rapidly the staff galloped to safety under a heavy rifle fire. Mukhtar was hit by two bullets. A devoted body servant saved him. Practically all the staff were wounded, and a new staff has been sent out. Mukhtar's third army corps, who nave been uniformly courageous and successful, despite their hunger, after Kirkkilisse were five days without bread.
