DESTRUCTION BY FIRE.

DARGAVILLE, Sept. 30. A six-roomed house on the estate owned by Dr Fox, at Tangiteroa, was completely destroyed by fire at one -o'clock yesterday morning. Nothing was saved. Dr Fox and four other occupants had a narrow escape. They had to; walk barefooted through wind and rain 2£ miles to seek accommodation. The building was insured in the Queensland Office, but the amount is not known.
ROTORUA, Sept. 30. I A five-roomed dwelling at Okere, the property of the Government and occupied by the Electrical Engineer, was destroyed by fire last night, together with the pdst office attached. Very little furniture was saved, and the whole of the contents of the post office were destroyed, the destruction of the lines interfering with telegraphic communication with the Bay of Plenty. Very little mail matter was burnt. Mr and Mrs Bell, the ocenpiers, were absent at the time. The building ' was insured, and the cover on the furniture is unknown.
