This was recently instanced at Clevodon, in connection with the discovery of a quantity of moa bones. The remains were collected by Mr H. .Munro. a settler in the district, and afterwards removed to his home. Hearing of the discovery, a Maori in tho district came to the conclusion that tho settlor had desecrated one of the burial grounds of his forefathers. To Mr Munro's astonishment, he was accosted by the natrwe. who, apparently greatly incensed, demanded the whereabouts of the bones he had removed. An explanation followed, and the native was eventually ftpacified, walking away fully satisfied that he had done all in his power to uphold .the honor of his ancestors,
