LAND BOARD.

} The monthly meeting of the Marl- \ borough Laud Board was held today. There were pi esent: The Com ' ■ missioner (Mr W. H. Skinner) aiid ;'Messrs Boyd, Reader, Fulton, and ■. McCailum. j CORRESPONDENCE. j Mrs 1. W. Gre^g wrote inquiring about section 10, Block' A, Linkwater S.D. (Education Reserve). Consideration was held over from last meefc- ; ing. Mrs A. Dalsiel also applied to | iease the section, comprising about ! 300 acres.—The section was assessed at & per acre, to be offered to Mrs Dalziel. The Secretary to the Awatere .Road Board replied to the Commisaioner's communication regarding tho expondiur© of accrued "fourths" from S.G. Run 186, and enclosed a copy of a letter from Mr T. Boyd asking that the Road Board repair the road up the Ure River as soon as possible to allow him to get the wool out. The explanation was considered satisfactory. H. L. Bart wrote stating tliat she did not see her way to accept a renewal of Sections 92 and 111, Picton, the term (21 years) being too long and the rent too high.—Received. ..A. J. Pope applied, on behalf of Airs Ada Pope for a reduction in timber royalties on Section 1, Block JV., Tennyson S.D.~-It was resolved that Mr Hursthotise, ranger, visit the locality and report on the timber on this, section and on four othersimilar sections in the vicinity. E. Wiffen applied to lease a strip of land of part of Section 7, Block TI., Heringa-.rS.D., fronting his section 6, Block 11., Heringa S.D., about 15 or 20 acres.—Mr Wiffen waited on the Board in support of his application.-—Mr Reader gave notice of. intention to move at next meeting that' th.c proposal to subdivide the . strip into building sections be abandoned. N. Harvey applied to have the lease of, S.G., run No. 16 renewed in his 'own ' name. (The lease ( at. present stands in the name of Mrs Augusta Harvey.) The matter was left to the Commissioner to deal with. A. ,W. "Wilson wrote asking for assistance- in building protective works in order to prevent the Hapuku River from encroaching on the township an the southeiS| side.—Mr Boyd represented these works as very necessary, and it was resolved to recommend th<*' Minister io make a grant. —it!*'*' Eli Wells applied for about ■■6W acres of , land in Block VII., Wakamarina S.D., on o.r.p. tenure^-Tfce ranger was instructed to submit a report at next meeting. J. Leslie applied for permission to fell bush on pastoral run No. 134, Okaramio, and asked that lie be protected for improvements, including fencing; or failing this he asked permission to purchase.—lt was decided that no action be taken at present. R. A. Kennedy, lessee of S.G. run No. .188, applied for permission to reside on freehold land purchased by.her recently from the Kekerangu syndicate.—Granted. C. F. McMahon wrote agreeing -to accept a lease of sections 40 aiid 41.;, Block VII., Gore S.D., at £1 per an-, num.—lt,was resolved that a lease he issued. The Pelorus Road Board furnished valuations of the Education Reserves within their district Received. Messrs G. Maitland and Co. wrote in behalf of Mrs A. Swan wick thanking the School Commissioners and the Land Board for allowing Mrs A.. Jones (recently deceased) to xeroain on sections .618 and 619. town of Picton, till her demise.—Received. Mr Reader moved that the proposed; exchange between Mr Murray and the Crown for a portion of a i«serve for public utility at North Bank, Clarence River mouthy PuM Puhi S.D., for portion of his freehold run adjoining be carriedl out, if Mr Murray agreed and the Minister •approved.—Mr Murray wrote agreeing to the proposal.—The motion was car lied. J. Miller applied for the right to occupy two small islands in tho Pelorus riverbed adjoining his propeity, at a nominal rental, provided he kept the same cleared of noxious weeds.—The matter was he!<2 over, the Ranger to report in the meantime;

J. Dalziel applied for a .school site at the Jordan.—Ranger Townshend submittekl a report, recommending <■* site.—lt was resolved that a recommendation be forwarded to the Minster to set aside five .acres for this purpose. /
