THAMES, Jan. 12. In connection with the May Queep. fatality, where a party of miners .was overtaken by: gas, two men named Thomas Ouy and James Williams, lost their lives. -When the rescuers,^Alexander and Herival, went into tire level they saw the bodies of Guy anjl Crawley. It waa evident that the latter had made a < gallant though unsuooessfttl attempt to rescue his mate. _Guy was almost spent, and Cnawle^ was in a similar condition. He maintained a determined hold on Guy, and was lying on his back holding thfe; latter'a head anid shoulders up, as though endeavoring to protect him from the deadly foe that held both &1--mo>?t in death's grip. Alexander -secured Guy, an 3 Herrral did: a similar .duty toCrawley. Th© latter recovered when brought to the surface, but the former was too fo-r spent. The only one then missing was Williams. Herival andl Alexander again searched thie level, but couW discover no trace of Williams, until they went,into a short drive leading' to th© magazine. Here Williams was found1 lying face downwards. It was evident" that he hftd tripped over some obstacle, and had fallen.. Had he gone onwwrdt arid! kept to the level proper his life would probably have been saved.
Bothi victims were married -men. Guy leaves several children.
Aduma ia now able to leave the hos— pitu;J, and Crfcwley, who nearly lost' his life in trying to save Guy, 'may leave to-day.. .All the rescued men are in a weak condition.
