Reports from Canterbury state that owing to unfavorable weather for .shearing a large number of shearers have arrived in Ashburton, having decided to give up all hope of finishing until the weather becomes more settled. Good shearers have not been, able to earn more than 25s per weet owing to the broken weather, and have given up in disgust in the hope of securing work harvesting1.
