ABSENT VOTERS'PERMITS. j The main roll for the Wairau \ ekotorato lias now been printed. It; contains /'306 naines^ and includes; claims received up to 14th October { last. The number on the roll when j printed in April, 1908, was 5373;] when the roll finally closed in October it was 67G2. Electors should inspect the roll to see if they are correctly described .in name, i>ccupation, and, address. An absent voteVs permit remains .in force for 12' months i'rom the date of issue of the writ- for the elections. To exercise his vote the holder of a voting permit* shall apply to any Deputy Returning Officer outside the district in which he is enrolled and shall deliver his voting permit to the Deputy Returning Offioe-r- and sign an application for a balloti paper. The holder of the permit will be given a. ballot paper with, the iiames of the candidates for his district thereon, and> having voted, th© ballot paper must be returned to the Deputy Returning Officer, who will, then return ,the permit to-iflie voter. If for any reason the Jiolder of a permit applies to vote in 2iis own district, he must* first deliver up his permit Do the Deputy The permit wiH be noted ;and returned to the voter. Voting penrits may be exercised when a soeoiu! ballot is required or vrhere a by-election is held. In .these cases application must &c made by tlie voter to a postmaster.
