HAVELOCK.

[PROM OUR CORRESPONDENT^ Saturday COTTAGE HOSPITAL.

The Havelock Cottage Hospital Committee met on Friday, the members present being: Messrs Taylor (chairman) ? Price, Pickering, Reader, Smith, and the' Rev. Mr Pain. Dr Williams w-as also present. The manner in which payment of accounts owing to the hospital was, in two or three cases, being shirked was strongly commented on, and it was decided that a judgment summons should be taken out in one of them.

The necessity for cutting a door to allow egress and ingress through the back of the building without having to go through the living-rooms was again brought up, and it was decided that it should be proceeded with. The girl assisting the matron at the Hospital having notified her intention to leave, it was arranged that a successor should be obtained, the duties to be properly defined.

Accounts totalling £3 7s 2d were recommended for payment, and the Committee rose.

HARBOR BOARD.

At a meeting of the Havelock Harbor Board on Friday evening those present were: Messrs H. M. Reader (chairman), T. D. Taylor, W. H. Smith, and the Secretary. Mr Crispin wrote excusing himself on account of having to be present elsewhere. The secretary reported that he and Messrs Taylor and Smith had during the early part of the evening been down and inspected the work done at the beacons by Mr Williams. The work was satisfactory so far as seen. "There was, however, one beacon unfinished, and this Mr Williams had promised to attend to promptly. Mention was made of the unsatisfactory manner in which a few launch-owners were acting -in regard to payment of licenses, and it was decided to issue summonses m all cases unless payments were promptly made. The Chairman brought upthe matter of the improvements being made by the present tenant of the reserve, and r-ik! that owing to his approaching marriage a larger house had become a necessity; also that owing to encroachments oy floods some measures to nrpvont the loss of valuable land wet; necessary. It was decided to p.c:k Mr Mortimor to meet the Board and.disuuss the situation with a view to loading the lease. A POPULAR MEMBER. On Wednesday evening, for the

second time this year, the members of the Takoreke Hockey Club gave a kitchen party arid social, this,time to Miss Elma Scott, one of their earliest members, who is about to be married to Mr E. Cbleman, of Carluke. About thirty ladies , and gentlemen friends presented themselves to do honor to their guest, and a great variety of useful kitchen utensils were handed to the future bride. Miss Isabella Scott thanked the company in her sister's behalf for their kindness, iand thereafter a euchre tournament was played and prizes presented to the winners, Miss M. Neumann and Mr Frank o'Sullivan being the successful players.
