RUGBY UNION.

I The weekly meeting of the Marl- '. borough Rugby Union was held last night, the following members being present: Messrs B. F. Healy (in the chair), Graham Griffiths, G, C. Grif- ] fiths, H. R. Bagge, J. Strickland, J. ] H. Morrison, and W. Lambie.

THE AUCKLAND TRIP. It was reported that owing to several members of the team being disabled, a special meeting of the Union yesterday morning decidedl to cancel the Auckland trip. Mr Strickland moved, and Mr Morrison seconded, that the action of the members present at this meeting in cancelling the fixture be approved.— Carried. THE SEDDON SHIELD. The Buller Rugby Union telegraphed asking if their challenge had been accepted under the revised rules. Mr Bagge moved, and Mr Stricklanded seconded, that the secretary advise the Buller Rugby Union that the challenge- was accepted under the first and only existing rules.—Carried. SATURDAY'S MATCH. Mr Graham Griffiths reported that the gate receipts for Saturday's match were £75 11s. .-This was considered most satisfactory, and the report was adopted.

THE PELORUS MATCH

The question of the return match with, the Pelorus sub-Union team, at Havelock was brought up by Mr Griffiths, but the Union decided1 that the match be not played', and that instead the final of the Junior Cup between the Opawa A. and Moutere teams be played nest Saturday. A CHALLENGE MATCH. Mr Graham Griffiths moved1 that the senior selector be asked to select his team to play against a challenge team on Saturday next, and to publish bis team by Wednesday. Mr Bagge seconded the motion, which was carried. PAYING BACK. -The - question arose1 as to what should be done with the money donated for the Auckland trip, and. Mr Lambie moved that the money be refunded to the: donors.

He thought that those who came forward and donated towards the cost! of the trip shphld be thanked for their: gener■osity.- .. ■ .'•. - .-' .. ■■ _■■. •■ ;. : ' .'■ '.; Tjte motion was carried, and Mr Morrison's suggestion was adopted. This oonoluded the business, and the Union rose.'
