AN ANTI-BETTING BILL.
* CAPETOWN; ISept. 15. The "Union Government, has intro-. duced a drastic Bill restricting^ race meetings and prohibiting betting at any sports, with, the exception of horse-racing, and then only at; the racecourse by means of the totalisator. A Bill abolishes the business of bookmaking and prohibits the publication of ante-post betting or antepost information relating bo races ran either inside or outside. The Union Government will take 2, per cent, cf the gross takings of the totalisator, plus 2 per cent, of the ■profits.
