ASTRA SPEI (STAR OF HOPE.)

Helpless we drift on Life's ocean wide, Doomed ia a darkening gulf we seem, Till far, far away o'er- the foaming tide, Shines the Star of Hope with.peaceful beam. Oat of the fog and the gloom we drift, With hope renewed we speed on our way. On. ever on, as the cold mists lift, Into the ocean of radiant day. But day with its light too soon has sped; Again we are lost in the mists of night ;''■■' But still, still again the star shines red; It surely will guide our steps aright. So through Life's vale as our course we take" When, we are crushed with grief and despair j God grant that this star through the gloom may break, And point to a world free from sorrow and care. H.D., Buckland.
