-MELBOURNE, Aug. 11.. Mr Hughes, referring t® the rise in sugar, said that.the Prime Minister of New Zealand informed him that the price of No. 1 sugar in New Zealand was £15 15s per-torn and No. 2 £15 os,. as .against &22.16S 6d and £21. 17s 6d.in Australia. The seller-in both oases was the Colonial Sugar Company. -The Australian public were able to see the possibilities of thia lucrative business, seeing that the prices (.were £6 and £7 more here than in Near . Zealand, and they want to know Mie»x©ason.
