[press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 26. There were largo entries of stock and a good attendance at Addmgton to-day. Fat cattle were firmer; store sheeo" sold at about late rates; fat lambs showed little change, but it anything were easier; prime tat sheep were firmer; and, owing to an extra large yarding, pigs met with a poor sale. The entry of fat lambs totalled 4936, or 1700 less than the previous week., There was a fair proportion jpf" prime lots, but the balance was of very indifferent quality. The market opened very slack on some poor lines, but improved when better quality was reached. Prices on the whole were easier, though some prime lots sold well. There were 4542 taken for freezing at 9s to 15s 9d, a few special lambs making 17s 6d to 18s 6d; 197 were taken by butchers at 8s to 14s lOd1; 135 by graziers at 8s to 8s 9d; and 62 were passed at 9s 5d to 10s. 6d. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, but a considerable proportion consisted of aged ewes more or less out of condition. There was a good demand for anything prime, both wethers and' ewes of this description selling at improved1 rates. Towards the end of the sale ewes became more difficult to quit even at low prices, and a number of lots were passed in. The range of prices was: Extra prime wethers to 255, prime 16s to , 19s Id, lighter lls to 15s 6d; prime ewes 13s to 17« lOd, medium 10s 6d to 12s 6d, others 5s 6d to 10s; merino wethers 7s 6d to 9s 6d.
There was an entry of 273 head of fat cattle, including some prime show animals. The quality throughout (showed an improvement, and thero was a better demand, though the sale was somewhat irregular. Four prize bullocks made £14 to £16; steers sold at £7 15s to £12 12s 6d, extra to £16; heifers £5 15s to £8 2s 6d, extra £10 ss; and cows £5 7s 6d to £8 17s 6d; equal to 25s to 29s 6d for prime, extra to 325, medium 22s to 23s 6d, and cow and inferior 20s to 21s 6d.
Veal calves made 4s 6d to 50s, and some extra large to 655. Th,a yarding of store cattle consisted principally of old cows. A few good steers sold well, but other descriptions met with a dull demand. Yearlings made 20s; 15 to 18-months 33s to 425; two-year steers £3 15s to £4 2s; three-year steers £6 15s to £7 15s; three-year heifers £4 3s; and dry cows 25s to £4 10s.
Dairy cows sold well, ranging from £3 to £9 ss, and up to £11 for extra good.
There, was a very large yarding of pigs of all classes, the supply far exceeding the demand, and the consequence was a dull sale and a sharp decline in values. Choppers sold up to 60s: largo baconers made 45s to 50s, smaller 32s 6d to 42s 6dL-equal to 3§d to 3-fd per 1b; large porkers 25s to 30s, smaller 18s to 22s 6d—equal to 3fd to 4d per lb. Best stores made 16s 6d to 225, medium 12s 6d to 15s 6d, smaller 8s to 12s, and weaners Is to ss.
