LAWN TENNIS.

MEHODIST v. PICTON;

On Saturday afternoon the Methodist Club journeyed to Picton in the motor charabanc ' to play . a return match, against the Picton Club. The weather was not the best that could be desired for play, as there was a strong northerly wind with a slight drizzle of rain in the beginning of the afternoon. However, some excellent games were ; played,' and good tennis was the order of the afternoon. The Picton ladies provided a very dainty afternoon tea, which was much appreciated' after the dusty run through. Good wishes were exchanged on both sides, and after cheers had been given the Blenheim Club left for home well pleased with their afternoon's enjoyment. The following' are the scores, Picton players being mentioned first hi each case:—. -~-■;

Ladies' Singles: Mrs Riddell 30, Miss Penney 27: Miss Oxley 31, Miss Moaridge 29: Miss Beswick 30, Miss Girling 25.

Great interest is taken in Blenheim m the Barnardo Homes, and therefore the drawing-room sale of work and children's concert, to be held at the residence of Mrs Heffer Grove Road, on Friday afternoon u°ij vyell Patronised. Tho children, have been practising hard for some weeks, and the ladies have also devoted a great deal of time to their part of the function. A good return is confidently looked for
