Mr J. J. White has decided to contest the Mayoralty of Blenheim.
Private advice has been received that Lieutenant 'G. W. o'Sullivan has bs&n appointed to the charge of the area along the Midland Railway under the new defence system. His headquarters will bqi at Sheffield, 90 miles from Christchurch. It is not known what Lieutenant O'Sullivan's rank will be.
The famous singer, Mademoiselle Antonia Dolores, arrived in Blenheim last evening, and -was met at the station by his Worship the Mayor (Mr E. H. Penny). Mile Dolores is in fine voice for the concert this evening, and is down for 12 songs. As she is very generous with encores, and invariably sings popular numbers, her evening's work often amounts to 18 items.
The Rev. G. W- J. Spence; president of the Methodist Conference of New Zealand/ , le.fi; Jto-day for his home 'in Palmerstdn North. During the past few days he has been busy renewing ©Id .friendships, and Blenheim Methodists have been pleased With the opportunity of meeting- again, their, former pastor. Mr Spence' speaks hopefxilly of the liuture of Methodism in *he Dominion, and is particularly pleased with ifihe strong and vigorous condition of the local Church.
