MILITARY MATTERS.

The meritorious service medal has been, awarded to Sergeant John P. Key, of the Royal New Zealand Artillery.

The appointment of Alexander F. R. Crawford to a captaincy in the New Zealand Medical Corps is gazetted.

The following officers have been transferred to the reserve:—Major Lewis J. Joyce (with rank of Lieu-tenant-Colonel) ; Captain S. Vincent Trask (of New Zealand Militia), and Captain W. S. Baird (New Zealand Medical Corps). The following officers have been transferred from the New Zealand Militia to the New Zealand Staff Corps with their present rank:— Colonels Alfred William Robin, C.8., Richard Hutton Davies, C.8., Edward Seyerin Heard.
