BRITAIN AND THE TARIFF
[press association. 1 (Received Jan. 26, 0.5 a.m.) , TOKIO Jan, 25. Baron Komura, speaking in the House of Representatives, _ declared that the Anglo-Japanese Alliance was /constantly gaining in,. strength, ensuring perfect accord and ; genuine goodwill. The Alliance continued to be a powerful factor for general peace in' the Far East.
Tariff negotiations, continued Baron Komural were proceeding; with the various Powers, and were aiming to re-establish Japanese complete tariff autonomy, and eliminate unequal engagements. It was hopped that v a satisfactory treaty with Britain would shortly be concluded.
