DARGAVILLE, Sept. 24. A special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held this afternoon, when it was resolved:'' "That, in the opinion of this Chamber, the service suggested by. the Oceanic Company is distinctly more advantageous to this Dominion than the service proposed .by the Union Company, and this Chamber would respectfully urge upon the Postmaster-General.' that efforts should be made to secure a direct mail service via San Francisco upon the basis of the Oceanic Company's offer; (2) that copies of the resolutions be sent to the Members for 'Marsden, Kaipara, and Bay of Islands, and Dr. Te Rangihiroa,, asking them to oppose the ratification of the proposals 'submitted by the Post-master-General until the Oceanic scheme is considered; also' that a letter be sent to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce endorsing their action in this matterj expressing this Council's appreciation of the good it has done in striving to secure an ad©: qua,t© mail service," ..'•: '.'■*'■,'::.■■
