[press- association.] AUCKLAND,--Sept. 4. "The Australasian amateur boxing tournament was concluded here last evening, the attendance again being large. The boxing was clean and spirited. The championhip honors were evenly divided' bet-ween New .South Wales and New Zealand, the Australians winning the three lighter and the local men the three heavier classes. King (New South Wales) dedreated Hogan (Queensland) in the ibantam weight. Read (New South .Wales) beat Shields (Palmerston North) in the feather, after an extra .round. Lacy (N.S.W.) defeated O'Hialloran (Auckland) in the lightweight, after two extra rounds. •Watohorn (Palmerston North) defeated Shaw (N.S.W.) in th© welter after an extra round. Matheson (Dunedin) beat Shaw (N.S.W.) in the middle-weight; and Pooley (Auckland) beat Doran (Victoria) in the heavy class, after the most exciting contest of the tournament. The •visiting boxers were entertained to--day at a harbor excursion and a dinner at Takapuna. The refereeing and judging at the- tournament have given satsisfaction.
