AT A FOOTBALL MATCH.
On one occasion a prominent foot--1 ball international, who is rather •! short of stature, was playing for Newport against a well-known Yorkshire combination, which boasted an exceptionally burly full-back. During a temporary stoppage in the game the aforesaid international, who frequently.indulges in funfly. antics on the field, put.up his "dukes" and began to dance round.... the bigi I "back." The latter, entering" into the fiin of )the thingj also put, himself into a fighting attitude, and. the two Waltzed round each other in a most pugnacious manner, much to the amusement of the lookers-on. The referee at that moment turned round, and, seeing what was taking place, sternly ordered both off the field. The Newport man, appre-1 ciating the humor of the situation, politely offered; his arm to his opponent^ and the supposed combatants left the field arm-in-arm, amidst the laughter of the crowa.
