OBSERVANCE IN NEW ZEALAND.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 31

The Prime Minister states that owing to difficulties in regard to the non-observance of the- King's Birthday it has been decided to observe the day as a holiday. The Government offices will therefore be.closed on Friday; but beyondrthe firing of a feu de joie in the cities there will be no official celebration of the holiday.. ■
