THE MURDER OF SERGEANT

McGUIRE

PALMERSTON, April 26

When Powelka appears at court in Palmerston next Friday, he will be charged with the following offences: The charges which were outstanding against him in respect of theft from Dixon's butcher's shop. Theft of a bicycle belonging to Ira Gordon, of Palmerston. Breaking and entering Miss McKay's premises in Campbell Street. Arson in respect of Miss McKay's premises. Escaping from the police gaol at Palmerston North on March. 12th. Miss McKay is a milliner. The breaking and entering of her place is alleged to have taken place on December 24th. The fire there occurred on JanuaiT Ist, when the occupants were aw,-y from Palmerston. The premises wore destroyed. On Monday, Hay 3rd, Powelka will be confronted with the following list: — Breaking and entering Perry's store, Longburn. Robbery under arms in respect of the affair at Kendall's, on the Foxton line. Arson in rospect of the High School fire. Arson in respect of the fire at Millar and Giorgi's temporary premises.
