LIBERALS LIKELY TO BE DEFEATED.

(Received April 4, 9.40 a.m.)

ADELAIDE, April 4. The Labour Party again swept the polls in the metropolitan area. Later counts may slightly alter the position of parties, but at best the Liberals can secure only a tie, and the chances are in favour of a Labour majority.

Mr Peake got in between two Laborites.

The counting of the local option vote has been postponed till toi-day. The result is anxiously awaited.
