AUSTRALIA v. MANAWATU.

Despite the short time allowed and the intervention of rain, the Australians contrived to win the match against Manawatu before time was called, although they lost 5 wickets for 51. First Kelleway and then Smith and Bardsley punished the bowling to such an extent that they were able to declare at 304 for 8. Kelleway made 47, Smith 107, and Bardsley 76.
In their second innings Manawatu made only 113, and were thus beaten by an innings and 104 runs. Ongley 25, Goldspring 20, and Cobbe and O'Connor 17 each, were the principal scorers. Six bowlers were used by the Australians, and all got wickets cheaply but Smith.
