THE KAIPARA'S INJURIES.

[press association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 3. The statement of the damage done i» the Kaipara shows that 21 plates 4>n the starboard side are more or less buckled. The damaged plates extend a total length of -30 feet from under the forehold to the after-part of No. 2 hold. The rolling chock is twisted like hoop-iron for several feet. Several tanks are buckled, and will require renewing or straightening, while the whole insulation on tanks 1 and 2 will require replacing. In addition, the steamer is slightly damaged in other parts owing to the strain. The decks will require attention, and the winches and other machinery will have to be overhauled.

The repairs will occupy seven or eight weeks.
