. DUNEDIN, Jan. 6. s At the inquiry into the Warrimoo nre the evidence- went against spontaneous combustion and' in favour of nre from external causes. The Collector of Customs wished to submit to the court whether a shipper of flax had exercised reasonable precautions. The magistrate said that in that case the shipper ought to haye had notice. The Government "stamp on the bales should be suflicient. He did aiot know that the court could consider the question, and would defer his decision.
