CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 5. At the Addington stock sale to-day there were fair entries of stock and a good attendance of buyers. Store sheep showed little improvement, fat lambs sold at 3d. to Is per head better, and fat sheep were firmer by Is per head. Fat cattle sold at about last week's rates, and; pigs, except for an improved demand for fats in the early part of the sale, met with a slow sale.

There was a moderate yarding of store sheep,- and it was made up chiefly of two, four, and six-tooth wethers, with a few pens of aged ewes with lambs at foot. For the better class of wethers there was an improved demand at slightly higher prices, and medium and inferior wethers sold at late rates. Forward fourtooth wethers made 12s to 12s sd, medium two-tooth wethers 9s 6d to 10s 6d, and small and low conditioned 8s lid to 9s 3d/ The better sorts of ewes and lambs made 6s 2d to 6s lOd, and inferior 5s to 6s Id, all counted. Some small lots of two and four-tooth ewes were passed at 12s 6d to 13s. There was a fair yarding of fat sheep and both wethers and ewes showed, an improvement on last week's rates, some business being done in wethers for export. The rise in values was equal to about Is per head and in some cases weiSiers showed an advance of Is to 2s per head.
