PERSONAL,
Dr J. M. Mason, late Chief Health Officer for. New Zealand, has completed his legal studies in London, and has been called to the Bar.. Miss Nash, of Wellington (formerly of Picton) was a passenger by the Waikare en her fateful cruise to the I West Coast Sounds. ■<f* tis reported that the Grovetown School Committee have decided to recommend the Education Board to appoint Mr W. C. Smith, of the : Ha.velock School, to succeed the late : Mr^Ladley at the Grovetown School. ; \jr^- ".northern exchange says:—Many** in Wairarapa remember Mr Arthur Bcauchamp, formerly of Picton, and for many years in business in Wanganui as an auctioneer. He is Mr Harold Beauchamp's father. Those • who remember him will be sorry to I learn that he is in very poor health. His present age is 82, and in his prime he was tfco very best amateur entertainer -met with. The late Judge Johnson went across with Mr | Ueauchamp once to Picton, and was' wont to say that it was the best few hours solid nonsense he had ever enjoyed. Mr Beauchamp writes to a mend that he is terribly weak and iccble, and scarcely expects any improvement at his advanced time of me. He pathetically writes, referring to the fact that he^is liable to fall down at any" moment, through weakness in his legs. "This is rather a come down for the once sprightly one, and in Wangauui he was as sprightly a business man and as tfeninl a companion as could be found m all New Zealand.
