TESTIMONIAL TO THE CAPTAIN
A WOMAN'S PREMONITION
INVERCARGILL, Jan. 6. The passengers were transferred to a special train, which' reached Invercargill at 8 o'clock"and-proceeded to Dunedin.
A testimonial to the excellent care of Captain Newton was largely signed by the passengers. ' The officers made a search for the mysterious rock, but no sign could be found. , :
Another uncharted rock was sounded in seven fathoms in proximity to the Supposed pinnacle of rock, and this was buoyed to assist further search.
Mr Wm. E. Peck, of New York a Pf ssengei" by the Waikare, said that Mrs Feck had such a premonition that something was going to happen to the Waikare that she left the steamer at Milford and returned overland." She did not know why, but she was determined not to go in the ship again. The steamer is likely to become a total wreck. ;
