THE DISCUSSION.

In the bourse of the discussion on the New Zealand graves at the Bloemfontein Conference, Mrs McEwansaid it was a pity that the idea had got abroad that the guild had neglected New Zealand graves, as this was decidedly not the case. Mrs Kingsley xephed that this was a rather mistaken idea; the New Zealand people did not think their graves had been neglected, but only wanted to know what had been done with the £100. This had not been touched, Because no instructions had been received from New Zealand. Ultimately the following resolution was carried:— That in the opinion of the Federal Council of the Guild of Loyal Wo-I men of South Africa, the sum of £100 sent by New Zealand for graves should ge allocated pro rata to each colony in"; South Africa to cover the cost of moriuments; erected* and that as full an account'as possible of the 'graves work done, for If ew Zealand be sent to the New Zealand authorities. l

NO NEW ZEAiIND GRAVES UNMARKED.

Miss Frere states that the guild has just accomplished the magnificent task of marking all hitherto unmarked graves that it has been possible to reach and identify has received a permanent nYark, either from the military or from the guild. No New Zealand graye that has been found is now unmarked, and all are cared for as far as funds permit. It is evident that the solitary £100 received from the Dominion will not repay .the guild for the cost of all the JNew Zealand crosses, erected at its own expense. After this there )s the upkeep of the graves to be considered: The Government contribute towards enclosures, but the work of upkeep fails on the guild, and any contribu-. iibn from the Dominion towards the upkeep, fund will be most welcome.
