Mr B. McNab's recital in "Murihiku" of early incidents in the West Coast Sounds is responsible for a little expedition which passed through Wellington recently en route to Dusky Sound, in the extreme south-west of the South Island. It is headed by Mr Russell Duncan, of Napier, who is a keen admirer of Captain Cook, the I famous explorer, and has made a special study of his life and travels. His interest was stirred by Mr McNab s account of Cook's visit to Dusky bound, .and of the earliest settlers--a, shipwrecked party—who made their home perforce in the Sound, experiences which, induced him to visit the spot. He has accordingly chartered a small steamer to take the party from the Bluff-to the Sound, taking with him an oil launch, with which it is his intention to thoroughly explore the historic spots marked for special notice m "Murihiku." Mr Duncan has already traced Captain Cook's travels the South Seas, and photographed places associated with the great navigator. .
