Some doubt is expressed as to the sanity of Casey, the man arrested on his own confession for the murder of Joanna Kelly at Armidale in December. 1908. A SAD CASE. MELBOURNE, Jan. 1. Mrs Lena Clugston, who shot and killed three of her children and wounded another and herself with a pearifle at her home at Cosgrove, has given birth to a child prematurely in hospital. She is suffering from puerperal mania. TRANSVAAL SHEEP-BREEDING. MELBOURNE, Jan. 1. The Transvaal Government has asked the Prime Minister to select; and appoint a flock-master to superintend the Transvaal Stud Sheep Department. His duty will be to . travel the country and instruct farmers in the selection and management of. sheep, and the salary will be £650 a year, rising to £800. BIG EARTH TREMOR. (Received Jan. 4, 10.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 4. A severe earth tremor was recorded at Sydney at 10 o'clock on Saturday night. A calculation placed the centre of the disturbance in the Carribean Sea.
