LONDON, Jan. 3. The late Ludwig Mond, the famous chemist, and' part proprietor pi. the largest alkali works in the world (in Cheshire) subject to, his wife's life interest bequeathed to the v Royal Society of Loiidon £50,009 for the endowment of research in natural science; £50,000 to the University of Heidelberg, for similar objects; £20,----000 to the Munich Academy for promotion of arts; £20,000 for pensions or occasional assistance to Brunner, Mond and' Company's aged and disabled workmen; and £20,000 to charities in Cassel (Germany) his birthplace. Also/subject to his wife's life interest and- to certain conditions as regards housing and exhibition, he bequeathed to the national gallery 56 pictures from his collection of three or four thousand, chiefly of the Italian N school.
