LONDON, Jan. 3: England, in the test match against South Africa, made 310 in their first innings. South Africa made 208.
Nothing has been telegraphed up to the time of going to press about the result of yesterday's play in the Can-terbury-Wellington match. The latest telegram received yesterday stated that .Canterbury, in their second innings, continued to do badly after lunch, losing four wickets —Lusk, Watson, Wood and Patrick—for 13, Upham and Hickey each securing two wickets. •.'.'.'.'
