BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Borough Council met, last night, when the following members were present: The Mayor (Mr A. McCallum) and Councillors J. J. White, F. W. Adams, E. H. Penny, R. F. Priddle, and F. W. Dodson.

THE £750 LOAN. Councillor Penny moved, and Caun<dllor Dodson seconded, that the Council make and levy a special rat© of one-eighteenth of a penny in the £ on the unimproved value as. security for interest and sinking fund on the £750 loan.—Carried. The following resolutions - drafted fey the Town Clerk were adopted: — DOG REGISTRATION. That, in accordance with the Dogs Registration Act 1908, the dog registration fee throughout the Borougii for the year 1910 be fixed at 10s per dog. with a discpunt of 5s per dog iif paid before the 28th day of February, 1910. WAGES AND SALARIES. That wages and salaries of the -workmen he paid on the 54th of the month as heretofore. STATUTORY HALF-HOLIDAY. That in accordance with the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, a special meeting of the ■.Council shall be held on Friday evening, the 7th day of Janu- ■ ary, 1910, atT.3O p.m., at the Council Chambers, for the purpose of deciding the day upon which the statutory half-holiday shall be held and notice thereof advertised; and that the Town Clerk ascertain the desire of the Retailers' Association on the matter of th© statutory half-holiday. AUCTIONEERS' LICENSES. That the auctioneers' licenses now ia force be renewed on application and payment of prescribed fee; SEPTIC TANK. ' : An application was received from the McKenzie Canning. Company for permission to construct a septic tank on their premisesThe application was granted, sabiect to all arrangements being made to the satisfaction of the Sanitary Inspector. ACCOUNTS.

Accounts amounting to £64 were passed for payment, and the Council rose at 8.30 o'clock.
