The final of the Miramar golf championship was played on Saturday last between Messrs J. H. B. Coates and Mervyn Horton, and resulted in a win for the latter. Horton is reported to have been in excellent form, and averaged fours right through the 36 holes, with the exception of one, which he did not complete. Horton also won the club's weekly handicap, going round in 72, and ending three up on bogey from two behind scratch.

A meeting of the Procession Committee of the Jubilee Association was held last night, when there were present: Messrs D. Bishell (Chairman), W. D. Pike, R. Holcroft, R. McArtney, F. Paine, A. McCallum, J. Hyndman, Jones and Patchett. It was resolved that all persons owning flags be requested to hoist them on each day during Jubilee Week, and that shopkeepers be asked to decorate their business premises. A sub-committee was set up to arrange for conveyances for old identities. It was decided to ask the school teachers to request the children to bring flags.

At the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr T. Scott-Smith, S.M., judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount clamed, with costs, in the case W. lies v. J.Ritchie, a claim of £5. Frank Campbell was ordered to pay to Mofley and Co. on a judgment summons £6 16s 4d forthwith, in default ten days in Picton gaol, the order to be suspended upon 10s a week being paid. C. F. W. Day, assignee in the estate of Messrs Horton Bros., proceeded against H. E. Martin on a judgment summons claiming £3 10s lOd. The Magistrate made an order that the amount be paid forthwith, in default four days' imprisonment.

The Band Contest Committee met last night, the following members being present: Messrs J. R. Sharp (in the chair), F. W. Dodson, E. Rose, H. Pope, W. B. Fraser-Tytler, F. Bull, A. Sowman, V. Holdaway, W. T. Churchward, G. Griffiths, E. Parker and T. Mitchell (Secretary.) A largo amount of detail business was transacted, and the secretaries reported that all necessary arrangements had been made, and that every-

thing was well in hand and pointed to a successful contest being held. It was decided to issue complimentary tickets to his Excellency the Governor (Lord Plunket), Sir J. G. Ward, the Hon. C. H. Mills, M.L.C., Mr J. Duncan, M.P., and the Mayors of Blenheim, Picton, Nelson, Westport and Petone. The ladies' committee held a meeting in the afternoon, and reported having held a most successful canvass of the town in connection with the garden p^.rty, which promised to be "the event" 'of Jubilee Week.

A Dunedin telegram states that the wife of Mr Thurslow, a settler in Becks township, Central Otago, was delivered of triplets—a girl on September 30, and two boys on October two. Dr. Bagley, who attended her, says that the y occurence is one in 8000 births.. It is rare to find that the three children survive. AH are progressing favourably.

A general meeting of the Marlborough Rowing Association was held last night at Picton, when it was decided to hold the Championship Regatta at Picton on New Year's Day. A general committee was appointed to carry out all arrangements for the gathering, and it was decided that the secretary send a drafted programme to the New Zealand Association for approval.
