ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. At the Addington live-stock market to-day there was a good entry of stock, though not so large in the sheep section as last week. Store sheep sold well, ewes being firmer. Fat cattle showed a decline owing to the "large entry. Fat lambs were firmer, and fat sheep opened at last week's rates. Pigs were easier all round.

The yarding of store sheep was only a moderate one in point of numbers, and was formed of about equal proportions of ewes, wethers and hoggets. Ewes met with good inquiry, and for good sorts there was an improvement in prices. Two four-tooth halfbred ewes of good quality made 17s 6d, and good three quarter-breds of the same age sold at 17s 3d. A line of failing-mouth halfbred ewes of good quality changed hands at 11s P.d. Hoggets sold at late rates, ewe hoggets making 11s to lls Gd. Wethers also showed no change, very forward fats selling up to 13s Id, average lilies 10s Gd to lls 6d, and low-conditioned sorts 9s 3d to 9s 9d. The entry of fat lambs was much smaller than last week, numbering only between 2000 and 3000. The quality on the whole was good, and under active competition from export buyers prices were firmer. Average weights of prime quality sold at 12s to 14s, tegs 14s 3d to 15s 6d, and light and unfinished sorts 9s Id to lls 6d. The yarding of fat sheep, though a large one, was not quite equal to that of last week. There was a good proportion of wethers, and for freezing weights there was improved competition among export buyers, and prices showed an advance of fully Is per head. Heavy weights were1 also firmer. Ewes, on the other hand, were more dull of sale, and prices were, if anything, weaker than the closing sales last week. The range of prices was: Prime wethers 14s 6d to 18s 3d, medium 12s to 14s; prime §wes lls 6d to 13s 9d, extra to lls 9d,

others 7s 3d to 11s; merino wethers Ss 8d to 13s 6d. The supply of beef was-a very lar^o one ■,totalling 432. a .record for : y»>-rts. A number of prrna linrs wee offered, and prices show.d a d.cbnequal vo about Is per 100 lh ns compared with last week. .Ra,y.&: of prices: Steers £6 17s 6d to £il ss, heifers £5 to £9, and cows £4 10s to £7 15s—equal to 20s to 21s 6d for prim*, 18s to 19s 6d for medium, and los (3d to 17s 6d for cow and inferior per 100 lbs. . There was medium entry of pigs, and the demand was rather slack, prices being easier all round. Choppers sold up to £4 ss, heavy baconers 57s to 635, and lighter 48s to 55s— equal to 4d per lb'; heavy porkers 36s to 40s, and lighter 30s to 35s—equal to fid to 52d per lb; large stores 34s to 3Ss Gel, medium 24s to 325, small 16s to 225, and weaners 10s to 14s.
