BLENHEIM STOCK SALE.
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their usual fortnightly Blenheim stock sale, held yesterday at the Cooperative Yards, when their entry consisted of 800 mixed sheep and 30 head of cattle. Wethers were dull of sale; lambs met with good compete tion at Into rates; fat ewes were on a par with late ruling prices; store cattle met with 'keen competition, and the Company had no difficulty in clearing the whole yarding at increased prices, and could have placed large quantities if available. Prices ruled as follows: —Fat wethers 12s 6d, fat ewes 7s 6d to 8s lid, shorn ewe lambs 9s, lambs in wool 7s 2d to Bs, merino ewes, f orAvard 4s 6d, weaner calves 225, yearlings 38s, 18-months steers £3 11s, heifers £2 10s, 2£-year-old steers £4 10s, 3-year-old steers £5 2s, cows coming to profit £4 10s to £5, aged cows £1 17s 6d to £3 10s.
The Company's next sale will be held at Seddon on Tuesday next, owing to the races being held on Wednesday.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agencjr Co. report holding the usual fortnightly stock sale at their Blenheim yards yesterday, the yarding comprising all classes, and the quality being unusually good. There was a good attendance and fair demand was experienced, but it was observable that buyers were again inclined to balk at anticipated values, and in some cases a slight margin in buyers' favour was experienced. However, practically all lines were disposed of, prices ruling" as follow:—Wethers, fat, halfbred Us lOd to 12s, crossbred lls, store crossbred 8s 6d; ewes, half and crossbred, mixed, full and failing 7s, merino, fair mouth 3s 6d to 4s sd; lambs, fat, shorn 10s Id, wellgrown and forward half- and three quarter-zred, mixed, woolly 9s 3d, crossbred, woolly 9s Id, threequarterand crossbred, mixed, mostly wethers, woolly 9s lOd. A line of wether lambs from Mr H. J. Stace, Robin Hood Bay, received well-merited attention, and sold readily under the hammer at lls Id.
The Company's next stock sale will be held at Seddon on Tuesday next, 4th May, the change from the usual day (Wednesday) haying been made owing to that day being the first day of tho Marlborough Racing Club's autumn meeting.
