PICTON HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
The Autumn Show of the Pioton. Horticultural and Industrial Society, which was held in Fay's Hall yesterday afternoon, was a great success as •regards the exhibits, which were very numerous and of excellent quality. There was a. particularly fine display of pot plants, giving evidence of great cairo on the part of exhibitors. Where all was so excellent, the task of laAvatrding prizes was very difficult, but in this case the prize for the best plant in the room, awarded to a lovely hrugmamsia, met with general approval. The autumn leaves and berries were displayed to great advantage, the color effects being very charming. Cut flowers, bouquets and floral devices were all well represented, and the domestic produce, fruit and vegetable departments were above the average. The children's exhibits were numerous, and all of excellent quality. Delicious afternoon tea was provided, ■and also light refreshments during the evening. Owing to various counterattractions the attendance of the public was not quite so large <as usual. A .number of visitors from Blenheim were present, and were loud in their j praise of the show. The president, (Miss Dart), .secretary (Mrs J. H. G. Macalisteir), and the Society generally aire to be heairtily congratulated on the success of their efforts.
