PRISONER TURNS INFORMER
The arrest of a night prowler inSydney early the other morning by Detectives Gallagher, Jordan, Campbell and Baninan, will probably lead to the elucidation/ of a mystery that has baffled the police for the last few weeks, and add the city and suburbs of a gang of clever safe-breakers (sayis the Telegraph). . ... j The officers mentioned obtained in--1 formation that an attempt wais to be made during the night to .rob Walker's Bond, opposite the Water Police Station, in Philip Street.; Accordingly they secreted themselves in various 1 positions commanding a view of cne building, and at about 1 a.m. saw a man carrying a bag 'stealthily enter a lane at the side ot the bond. They accosted him, and askedl for an explanation of his presence. He stated that he had been drinking, and was trying to find Circular Quay. As he 1 was apparently perfectly sober, the detectives examined his bag, which contained a complete set of up-to-date burglar's implement®, including . a brace iamd bits of finest manufacture, an electric lamp, and a jemmy. He 1 was then arrested on a charge of Shaving the implements in his possessionl. At the Water Police Court next morning he was charged, and the case was remanded for a week.
