THE BAND CONTEST,
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—l am glad to see that interest is being taken in having- a band contest at the time of the Jubilee of the district. I have always taken interest in brass bands, as T have belonged to the'best band in the West of England Tfor close on twenty years, you know the interest •'one must take. I, had the pleasure of hearing:, at the St. George's .Sports, a very nice foand playing. It ,was a but inclined to drag at times, but all the same it played* very well indeed. Also, on the Saturday of the opening of theJCarnival Bazaar, I more than delighted to hear a very fine band, playing tunefully, sharp and precise, from the cornet down to the big drummer ■; all nicely working together to make their band sharp, clear and crisp I noticed they were also inclined to drag the last night or two, a bad fault, hnt I am getting away from the subject. It is a, pity that fine bands like these are"not Setter supported and given a chance to show what they are made of. So, Sir, I trust you will give your support in your important paper, and every encouragement to get a brass band contest in Blenheim.-—I am, TROMBONE.
